I hate it when they use words like 'nightmare fuel' and 'traumatize' for a film like Secret of NIMH, lol. The way I see it, the more people whine about how everyday reality, you convince MGM to go, "Golly, Bluth must've been an idiot, we better tone it down and make it family friendly."
And then you get... Secret of NIMH 2.
Case in point: I was watching 'The Animated Adventures of Tom Sawyer" last night on Netflix. No, not the furry one; this one looks pseudo-anime/DiC cartoon-like. The characters were all the there but the story had so many benign changes that it wasn't even itself anymore. Apparently the backlash over the original book (seriously? it's a part of history... you pissed over history? Better build your time-machine) that they changed almost each detail.
"Injun Joe" becomes "Tattoo Joe" and "A PROUD AMERICAN" (aka hillbilly Guile). I mean, come the f*ck on, lol.
I was supporting the CGI remake of Secret of NIMH for awhile under the assumption that if we waited it out, we could get something on par of other books-to-films series like Harry Potter. But man, the more the public continues to report that all those scenes were scary, you ultimately convince the people behind it to stick in that Mrs. Brisby singing "Never Gonna Give You Up" animated sequence you always wanted.
I read the book in school, followed by watching the cartoon, sometime in like the 4th grade. I honestly thought it was harmless. Try watching horror movies, B-movie kind, where the gore is ramped up for sake of making a dollar, at a young age - then tell me that NIMH was scary. I got introduced to stuff like the zombie voodoo classic 'Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things' or watching super creepy Twilight Zone marathon promos on WB20 in a house alone.
And yet, I turned out alright.
There's potential in a NIMH remake for the chance we can see the books come together in film. If everyone likes it, then stop taking to the news and saying NIMH 1 was scary; say it was a good film, and make it in the spirit of NIMH 1. But, go figure.... more media backlash over female Ghostbusters, I guess. Whatever then, lol.

Even after I've left, I'm still getting AI spam bots asking to use my "art" in a mural. Fucking amazing. Anyway: https://bsky.app/profile/therealaridynamic.bsky.social

My first art contest for totem pole trench fans...
1st. Artisticulous Anonymouso - for making it a very interesting and compelling story; not generally known for doing digital art, he really made this one stand out and putting the characters in a situation that sets up so many ideas with the characters involved. Artisticulous stands out among the entries for telling a story with a comedic premise but doesn't walk on familiar territory and as noted, Artisticulous trying something new is enough for me to give this one the top prize. With it's fun cast and silly story, I look forward to seeing Artisticulous (and the same goes for everyone else who participated) return to these characters! 2nd. SolarTomato/Chris Cringle (tied) - Solar throws their hat into the ring while being a resident newcomer to the server, with a well-done entry that surprises me with their unique style and showing off how wonderful the community can be when allowed to present fresh, original ideas; tied with Solar is Chris Cringle with a very impressive well-written

If you ask me Bluth is one of the most underappreciated mistreated Animators of all time. His stuff's WAY better then Disney's Sing song Crap
